Painting is reflection. My work is self-referential and is an exploration of upbringing and identity. Some themes I tackle include island life, culture, family, childhood memories, and nostalgia. Painting is a way I experience the mundane with awareness and appreciation.

I create figurative paintings using bold brushstrokes and a limited color palette. Informed by observation, I alter the figure through simplification and exaggeration, and I keep my process loose to create interest in static subject matter.
